Adon Davie does the Supersport double at Knockhill
Scottish teenager Adon Davie was looking forward to his home round of the 2023 British Supersport Championship at Knockhill in Scotland and the JDF Racing Ducati rider didn’t disappoint the thousands of fans who turned up – the #38 rider romping to a double win in the Supersport Cup, claiming P13 and P11 overall in the two races, and with it scoring his first British Supersport points.
Qualifying strongly, despite a small spill in the grid deciding session, Adon made a strong start in both races, crossing the line comfortably inside the top fifteen on Saturday before going even faster on Sunday. He left #KnockhillBSB full of confidence after producing two solid races, underlining the speed and natural talent he has shown since joining the BSB grid.
The step forward made this past weekend is testament to the great work from his entire JDF Racing squad, with Sunday’s race seeing the talented teen cross the line a mere sixteen seconds from the overall win and less than four seconds from the top eight! Impressive stuff from the supersport debutant.
The results see him move into third overall in the BSB Supersport Cup ahead of his next race at Brands Hatch at the end of July.
Adon Davie:
“I am really happy with how race one unfolded. I started P15 and got away with the group. I was fighting for twelfth, but I hit a false neutral and lost ground. I had a healthy margin over P2 in the cup and so I just raced to the pit board and tried not to do anything silly. It was great to get my first win in the cup, especially in front of my home crowd and it gave me a lot of confidence for Sunday. My race two start was also really good. I started as the top cup competitor once again and made a decent start, but the race was red flagged after the first lap. After the short delay, I made a really good start when things got going again and made-up places immediately. I was able to latch on to the group and had a really good fight, which was what I wanted. I matched my fastest lap consistently and took the win in the cup by a healthy margin. We picked up a great haul of points overall and were not too far from the top ten, and only sixteen seconds from the overall win which just shows how much progress we have made this weekend. It’s also nice to leave my home race with two big shiny trophies. The support from the local fans was great and so I want to thank everyone who came and all those who were cheering me on. I am really happy and looking forward to Brands Hatch which is my next race.”
